The primary objective of bank examination remains the assurance of a bank’s safety and soundness, as indicated by its ability to meet obligations and comply with laws and regulations.
The Level I course builds on the foundational knowledge gained in the Foundation Course. Participants will be introduced to on-site examination practices and procedures for banks and other financial institutions. Key areas include identifying significant banking activities and understanding risk-based supervision (RBS), with a strong emphasis on fieldwork. A brief comparison between RBS and compliance-based methodologies will be presented to provide contextual background.
Unlike the Foundation level, more emphasis will be placed on the practical application of supervisory concepts. While the Foundation Course focuses broadly on supervision concepts, Level I prepares participants for their first on-site field assignment. Ideally, examiners should not be deployed for field assignments until completion of the Level One programme.
Participants will be assessed through pre-course assignments, classroom engagement, case studies, exercises, and end-of-course tests to measure their grasp and application of the training content.
